The Merc is 17s and the buffalo is no date and was an eyeball find in a wash I was working with the detector the war nickel is my 4th for the year they seem to turn up everywhere lately its a 42 P

suburban park about 2 blocks in size half looks awsome with big trees and mowed grass the other half is obviously moved around with a water sprinkle bball courts and a pavillion
The half that looks good produces nothing... the other half allthough loaded with trash is loaded with coins! The ground is bone dry and very rocky making sore hands with the Lesche digger-almost broke out the sampson shovel but I didnt think people would appreciate that so much. The Mercs are around 2-3 inches in depth and sound off like a shallow copper penny! Must be coupled with the ground conditions and the amount of corrosion on the coins. These are my finds from a 2 hour hunt yesterday. The "Federal Army Corps" adopted insignia (shown below) and proudly represented them. The 12th, and later the 20th both admirably wore the "star" The insignias were crafted from either buttons or silver coins.

We have updated the banner with the new prices to show the newest detectors by Minelab. They now have two new top-of-the-line machines - GPX5000 and GPX4800. They are not only upgrades to their best gold machine, but they also have a new "Coin and Relic" setting on each machine. I just got my own GPX5000 to try on some of my old relic hunting spots. Hopefully I'll be able to let you know how it does soon. We are expecting a big order of machines in this week for anyone interested in a new DIV machine.

We have also finally hired someone to get us a full-fledged website up soon. Thank you for all the patience with our meager web presence so far.

The "Georgius Triumpho" is the only Washington token bearing the date of 1783 that is actually known to have circulated during the Confederation period.

~Of the many Washington copper pieces that are dated in and around this time period, it is theorized that very few were actually minted during this time period. The Georgius Triumpho is one of them that is believed to have been.

Debate exists as to whether the Georgius Triumpho was actually minted in honor of George Washington, or rather if it was minted in honor of George III. Speculations abound, most scholars familiar with this coin believe that it was produced in honor of George Washington. The gate depicted on the reverse has 13 vertical bars. And indeed, these same folks believe that the 4 cirque foils at each corner of the gate represent France, which aided the original colonies to gain independence.
I suppose I could clean the back a little better later. There is a lady standing behind the 13 bars representing freedom.

Stopped by a landowner and asked for permission, and got rejected. So I went to nearby by field and hunted for about three hours. It was hot, muggy and rain was threatening. It finally did rained some, and then these were recovered. I ended the day at the coin shop getting plastic cases for the two.
Nice ending to a day that started out not so well.

We dug a half quota each and then adjourned to Inglis Sub for a Reuben sub which is without a doubt a heavenly experience. After this gourmet meal it was back to the dig with ND ending up with 48 coins and a new nose ring for his wife to lead him around on!

Hour and a half after that I had my fill of beer caps....nice ones though commemorating Canada's Navy 100 years (if you recall from an earlier post I gave my father the complete set in mint condition mounted on a special plaque)
