"I just came across my mother's great-grandfather's Civil War service. He was Daniel Turner (possibly William Daniel Turner) 1844 - 1894. Obviously he was quite young in the war and obviously he survived.

He was a Private CO F 2 VA CALVARY CSA... this is the designation on his tombstone in Hollywood Cemetery. Help me find further information, will you? If you tell me again what web sites I'd be delighted to search."

New to the forums, this will be my second post. From upstate NY, live in Leesburg, VA and I have some family near Westminster, MD. Has anyone ever looked around in Westminster where the Union had the Pipe Creek Line prior to going to Gettysburg? Any successes, or tips?

Just curious to what GPS units people are using while metal detecting. There are so many different brands and models to choose from I do not know where to begin. Ideally I would like to be able to find one with topo maps or somehow the ability to upload an historical map. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
