Just got the idea of hunting for treasures while at a furniture shop, they had a display case of items they found on the site prior to building the store. It was amazing to see that the amount of military style relics that was recovered on a 3 acre lot in the middle of Huntsville TX. I had to make a deal with my wife to get the OK to get some metal dectors so I could find some treasures of my own. So after spending four thousand dollars on new furniture for the wife I went on the hunt for a Metal Detector I read alot of stuff about them and got confused a hundred times over, I ended up with a combo package from bounty hunters kit came with the Bounty Hunter Quick Silver and the Bounty Hunter Junior. Thought it would be a good thing to do with my 9 year old tom boy. I'm sure these aren't the best detectors out there but pretty sure they are OK for the newbie. After reading the directions on both of the detectors I am still a bit lost but think I have the basics and with time will be able to stumble my way to getting the best results. I have a 13 acre spot of land on the outs of Huntsville that once was a old diary farm, and has lots of frontage to Harmon Creek about 3 miles up stream from the Trinity river. I think this will be a good spot to get started and see what is hidden in the sands. If anyone is in the local area and would like to come out and poke around with me, and maybe pass on a few pointers I would love to have you out. I will probably go out tomorrow after noon and see what comes up and if I find anything cool I will post some pictures and keep everyone updated on my progress. I was looking around today and noticed the street running by, and remembered that it was once the Port Bolivar Iron Ore Railroad spur. I looked to my right and noticed a faint rise that had been another old railroad bed....I won't name it until next month if nobody finds me. Looking up at a porch I can remember how many camp outs were planned in that building.
