Around here finds are rarely older than the 1870's. I do have a few eagle buttons and I have found a large cent and an 1820's militia button. So my experience with this type of hunting is slim but I am sure it is a blast, it is after all treasure hunting. :)

He was mustered into service August 13, 1862, on a nine months enlistment. He was recruited in Juniata County, PA. Company I was mustered out on May 20, 1863, a mere seven days after George died.
