Found My First Barber Quarter Today!!!! November 12, 2006 10:12PM |
Randy, Mike I went across the street from my house today (about 150' from my dirveway) and found my first Barber Quarter. It was about 15' from the street next to a side walk. It was about 4" down. As soon as I flipped the plug over I saw the glint of silver in the dirt, I knew it was going to be something good. When I plucked it out of the dirt I didn't even need to wipe it off. I could see it was a 1914 Barber Quarter!!! I yelled Ye-Haw real loud the people on the street hit their brakes cause they thought they had run me over or something. Ha, Ha. Here's it is.
I also found this token, I can't find info on when it may have been put out but I know it has to be old, when was the last time you could get a loaf of bread for 5 cents?
Here's the rest of the stuff I found there. The house was built in 1909.
