It does not look like we will be able to hold our hunt at Rivers Edge Campground

We are an active club of 60+ members mostly from central Wisconsin and run a large national hunt the last full weekend of July each year. Our meetings are held at Shooters restaurant and bar located at the intersection of I-39 and State Hiway 54 across from the Gulf station. Meeting time is the third Wednesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. GUESTS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME!

It does not look like we will be able to hold our hunt at Rivers Edge Campground

Word came out last week that we may not be able to have our annual hunt at the River's Edge Campground in 2010. Some of our members made some Phone calls and it looks like our hunt fields will no longer be available. The campground itself is changing and new rules will be put in place. The short version of the long story is that we need a new place for our 2010 National Hunt.

Tonight, a group of us got together to go over the facts and try and brainstorm a few solutions. We have a few possibilities along with a few leads. We will be making phone calls, scouting possible locations, doing research, asking questions, and doing the leg work neccessary to find a new location. We should have more information at the January meeting.

If anyone knows of a location or can think of a possiblity, please reply to this post or get in contact with one of the people that attended the meeting.

While we do not expect to get everything we would want to have, some of the things we are looking for would include:
1. The location should be in Central Wisconsin (From Marshfield to Waupaca and from Wausau to Wisconsin Dells)
2. Camping at the location or close to the hunt site
3. Hotels nearby
4. Good Soil conditions (in other words: Not a swamp, rock field or a trash pit)
5. Somewhere that we can return to year after year
6. Must be able to dig holes (but we always fix our sod afterwards)
7. Food on site would be great, but not manditory
8. Toilets and Showers would be nice (but we could always rent Port-a-Poties)
9. There are many other factors that would also need to be considered

Please. If you can think of a possible location, let us know.

Thanks to everyone that attended the meeting: Jerry and Shelby (our hosts for the meeting), Steve L., Steve M., Larry and Mary, Rick and Peggy, Doug and Betty, and Kent.
