I just got a Bounty Hunter Pioneer 101, couldn't beat the price FREE!! not too many places to hunt in Gwinnett so far. I have permission for 1 City Park and just got permission to hunt Fair grounds. City Park is like a dump nothing but Nails and wire. I did find .15 clad. I just sent in my dues to join NGRHA so I hope I can learn some new ways of hunting. I hate being a rookie.

5 Tesoro Eldorado's and a Tejon. Looking at the meter every time you get a signal seems like a waste of time to me. Can't see it in the dark anyway.piratemetal detecting smiley
I use a nautilus dmc2ba and wouldn't trade it for the world in good ground

it's all about practice to know what your machine is telling you.I dig just about every hit I get....you just never know what is under the junk.Have found many good targets masked by junk

My Gold Mountain King Cobra doesn't have a screen. I had to search online for info on my machine when I bought it second hand. Found information about the different tones, and one old timer suggested a test garden. I put together a test garden and found that this was the best way to learn the tones for different things. I did have a weird experience once where I was getting 2 different tones almost simultaneously I dug and found some silver coins in a mason jar($5.00 of various Quarters, some dimes and nickels), the silver was giving one reading, the nickels another and the jar lid another...
I just bought a Tessoro Lobo.

Now here’s the thing. From the research I did it seemed to be the machine that would best suit what I wanted to do (gold and relic hunting). Plus I watched all these YouTube videos of these guys with Whites and Fishers and they’d hit a target and say “Oh looks like a _____, but I bet it’s a bullet.” And sure enough they’d dig up a bullet. So I’m thinking the screen seems a little extraneous to me. Plus I’m an old school guy and the idea of judging a target by the tone appeals to me. I mean your going to dig up everything that beeps anyway right? But I am a newbie, so what the heck do I know shrug

Since I basically dig everything I really don't need a meter.

Still swinging my 10 year old 1266x and nine year old Tesoro Bandido2MM. Yeah, I need to get a new machine, been thinking about a 1270 or maybe splurge and get a MXT. Either way, the wife is going to yell!
I do. A Vaquero, 1236-X2 currently. (n/t)
