New Member needs Button ID help
December 14, 2007 11:24PM
I have been checking out all the post for several months & I rarely find anything that would be of interest to most folks at this site. I have recently found a button which looks interesting. When I found it, it was nothing but rust on the front, but it cleaned up well enough to make out "Donaldsonville". Can anyone tell me anything about it?

Thanks, I think this is a great site.

YES SIR!! I do believe you have found the Button Find of a Life Time! I think it is LA20A1 in the Albert's book and/or LA272A2 in the Tice Book! Very Nice with a Nice retirement price (Better than playing the market stuff) if you keep it in your collection!! Looking good with the other brass items as well!

Continued Success, (RAW) Roger

Scrounger, Have you checked Albert's book, pg 152 ? There is a Donaldsonville Artillery button listed with the crossed cannons and bomb. Looks similar. Good looking button.

Thanks for ID Gaut. I was able to get the book (Albert's) and hopefully I will be able to use it soon on another button, although they are few and far between for me.

Thanks TS

Here is the back of the button. It has the letters, ARIS and L-S , and also, a T, with a couple of stars also. I have found some references to the Donaldsonville Artillery unit during the civil war, but I have never seen a button similar to this.

Thanks for the help!

I know that it says "DONALDSONVILLE" and as best as I can determine, it may also say cannoniers following.
