My DIV XX and XXI Finds April 02, 2012 09:09PM |
Thank you to John and Rose and the entire hunt committee. You did a great job as always to make the hunt a success.
A big thank you to Steve and Joel. We had a great drive from Wisconsin to Virginia and back. Both of you made the trip enjoyable.
A big thank you also goes out to Jim who handled the driving to the hunt sites once we got to Virginia.
Another big thank you to everyone else that makes DIV so much fun. It is alway great to see familiar faces and talk relic hunting. Special shout outs to Robert, Stampede, Amy, and everyone else.
Below are my finds from DIV 20 and 21.
I did find a Saddle Shield with an "1" stamped into it. If anyone knows the significance of the "1", please let me know.
Just above that piece is a piece of brass that has an odd bend and is sharpened at both ends. I am not sure what it is and if someone knows, please tell me.
The Artillery Shell and Schenkl Fuse were found in a single hole. I am guessing from an unexploded shell. I thought I dug all of the pieces of it but once I got home, I am assuming I am missing a few. There is a small cylindrical piece of lead inside one of the pieces. If anyone can shed some light on that or the shell, let me know.
