Doug, I never had much luck with wall anchors or wheel weights. I think they contain tin and other alloys with a low percentage of zinc. I've purchased zinc ingots fairly cheap off the Internet and most alloy suppliers will have them. They work great. Problem now days is finding lye that works. I haven't been able to find any worth a darn. I was told that the chemical companies stopped making it dby Mike in Cassville - Relic & Bottle

- 7 weeks agoJohn and Rose thanks again for your graciousness. Thank you DIV committee for your hard work and dedication. This was an awesome hunt on a beautiful historic property and I'm thankful to have been a part of it. I went into this hunt wanting to focus on hut/pit digging and not so much surface hunting. Day 1 managed to get into three pits one of which produced some ginger beer bottles. Most of theby Mike in Cassville - Diggin' In Virginia

Dug this brass piece down in a union trench line. Not long ago someone posted a similar one they found. Just wondering if anyone has a positive ID. Maybe a handle of some sort.by Mike in Cassville - Relic & Bottle
Dan, Thanks for the advise. I agree 100%. I did have a local shell expert do the work on this one. He handles a lot of shells that are recovered from the coast. This one was recovered from probably some of the highest ground in Savannah and stayed pretty dry.by Mike in Cassville - Relic & Bottle
This is the polygonal I dug a few weeks back down in Savannah. Ran about two weeks in electrolysis. It found itself a nice home. Thanks again Ed T., Rod H. and Carl S.by Mike in Cassville - Relic & Bottle

I prefer the 14 mono when hunting the open fields at DIV. It seems to run a tad deeper on small targets and is more sensitive to large deep targets. I switch to the 8 mono in the woods and tall grass for maneuverability. IMHO I would leave the DD at home. See ya in a couple weeks bro. Mikeby Mike in Cassville - Diggin' In Virginia
Mr. Chang owns a ton of land around Bartow Co. GA. A huge track of his backs up to my property. Have dug some nice CW relics out there over the years. I suspect one day all those woods to be turned into rice fields.lol Can you detect in rice fields?by Mike in Cassville - Diggin' In Virginia
Thanks to Rod Hall for "sealing the deal" on this spot. Not often can you find spots to dig CW relics in and around trenches. Ed Travis thanks for capturing the moment on video. We had a great weekend finding lots of relics. Will post some pics after electrolysis.by Mike in Cassville - Relic & Bottle
