Last summer I was hunting at a property in North Ga. and found one of these buttons. I could not identify it at the time and just put it in the case and forgot about it. Well last evening I decided to show it to Butch Holcombe of American Digger Magazine and he immediately identified it as a Republic of Texas Navy button, circa 1840, Tices lists as TX224a, Albert's TX4a. Heres my finds, enjoyed the hunt. Thanks for the opportunity to dig. My best find was the Shaler bullet, another hunter in that area found the base piece I think. He showed me a conical shaped piece but we thought it was a carved bullet. There was some nice CS bullets found there and killer plates! Also got Vermont cuff, a first for me. Thanks for looking and hope to see you again! Craig Discby GaDigger - Diggin' In Virginia
