i have dug a few of the finials in 35 yrs 3 or 4 but how do you know if they are c s or u s this is the same pics just different shots i dug this on 1-5-2019 at 8 inches down hope some one can help

There may have been only a few manufacturers in the country. If their factories are traceable, you could
base your findings on "circumstantial-location of maker," statements. It may be doubtful that new
hardware factories were opened during the war years, on either side, when everything had to be converted
to producing weapons and munitions. My guess is that most small finials were used in the home, rather than
