I'm not familiar with British plates I know this is a war of 1812 shoulder plate but exactly how rare is it

Fabulous find ! I would guess that this piece might have been brought back by a Kentuckian who served under Colonel William Dudley at Fort Meigs in Ohio during the 1813-1814 period. The 41st Regiment of Foot occupied Fort Miami nearby and it is conceivable that the Kentuckians and Regulars of the 41st fought against each other in one of the numerous skirmishes in the area.

Thank you for the info. This was dug in an area where British prisoners were housed I have dug a few 41st regiment buttons along with several other British war of 1812 buttons and Crown stamped brass relics
