"Grounds" for excitement

Most of the Virginia diggers know what kind of ground we were digging in about a month ago. If f you've been digging huts, or even surface relics, then you know you could apply for a stonemason's postion with plenty of experience at this point. But then the rains. Talk about an incredible change in density. What you couldn't penetrate last month is now like cutting cake. Can't speak for the DIV spot but if it's anything like the fields I've been digging we are going to be extremely blessed in terms of ease of digging goes. Be encouraged.

I'm guessing that most of the DIV fields will be soft, but not too wet. The soft soil conditions will be quite helpful for us to dig the mega pits that we started in DIV III (see attached.) Regardless, it will still be a lot of work to dig those 4-6' pits.
